OVA Arts

OVA Arts seeks to contribute to the cultural and economic vibrancy of our community by creating a gallery for local, established and talented emerging artists to exhibit and sell original art. Applicant must be living in Ventura or Santa Barbara Counties in order to be considered as local.

OVA Arts is a unique gallery of Fine Art and Contemporary Crafts in the heart of downtown Ojai. With great foot traffic and visibility, it provides both established and emerging local artists of the Ojai Valley, Ventura and local coastal communities a quality yet cost effective, exciting venue to display and sell their work. The gallery includes art in a wide price range, focused on mid to higher-end items. In line with our philosophy of community involvement, the gallery is staffed by our artist members to convey artistic passion and enthusiasm to our customers. Accepted artists will be able to offer classes, workshops and host special events on site. Gallery hours are 10am to 6pm every day of the a week. OVA Arts is owned and operated by Ojai Valley Artists, an LLC comprised of local artists.

Type of work accepted

All work must be your own original design and fabrication and reflect the highest standards of craftsmanship. Fine art and contemporary crafts including jewelry, glass, sculpture, photography, digital, woodworking, metal, leather, ceramics, fiber art, multimedia, and paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel and encaustic are all suitable for the gallery.

Application and Jury Process

Although spaces are only open periodically, we accept applications throughout the year. If you believe your art is fit for OVA Arts please apply by submitting the following to OVA Arts, attention Membership Committee.

Application submittals will all be reviewed by the Membership Committee and kept on file until an appropriate space opens up. At that time, you will be contacted to meet with our Selection Committee to present your work. All work intended for display must be presented and approved in the jury process. Accepted artists are required to sign an initial 6 month Artist’s Agreement.

Your level of participation may be a determining factor of acceptance with consideration given to what is needed in the gallery and the artist’s participation preference and availability. There are two levels of participation for qualified artists.

Working Artists work 2 hour shifts per week and pay $100 monthly and retain 80% of sales.
Participating Artists do not work in the gallery and pay $150 monthly and retain 70% of sales.

The monthly fee provides a beautiful display space, advertising, the ability to participate in special events, networking and business opportunities, and inclusion in a community of accomplished and vibrant artists.
