Judy Suzuki

Colorful paper folding and drawing with smudgy oil pastels were my first art experiences while growing up in Tokyo. I am a third generation Japanese American, born overseas.

Life in California began in 1974 after graduating from high school on a US Air Force base in Tokyo.

I continued my art education at Jr Colleges, California Art Institute, Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Arts,
and Art Center College of Design.

My art career is a creative mixture this Journey walked me through- from a graphic arts business with my ex-husband, to Murals for the Make a Wish Foundation, Murals at the former Camarillo State Hospital, an over 70ft mural in Colonia Oxnard neighborhood, murals at Oxnard schools, sections of the original Tortilla Flats mural in Ventura, Electrical box painting at California and Main St.,  Ventura College stage production set paintings, Parks and Rec.classes for children and adults, Oxnard Senior Center and numerous portrait paintings over the yrs. including a couple of Police Canines with their handlers.

I currently stay busy with ongoing orders for  portrait paintings and also enjoy attending once a week 3hr figurative art sessions at a local Studio.

My goal is to keep growing and changing as an artist- learning from challenges & to remain teachable.
