Ellen Wohlstadter
ceramist
From record executive to entrepreneur, mom to ceramic artist, I have been fortunate to experience many diverse careers. In 1990 I opened Clayworks Pottery in Sherman Oaks, CA, where I teach classes for children and adults. Over the years I have introduced hundreds of adults and children to the magic of working with clay.
My husband and I moved to Ventura in 2011 where we built a beautiful clay studio overlooking the Ventura pier.
The moment I touched clay, I instantly fell in love. At first, ceramics was a great hobby, a stress release from my busy entrepreneurial life. Over the years I have studied with numerous ceramic artists and teachers around the county learning numerous and varied ceramic techniques.
MY WORK:
Today my work is a combination of both hand built and wheel thrown. I am fascinated with color, design, and texture. My intention is to create unique, functional ceramic art that conveys a sense of happiness and adds beauty and color to any home.
