I was bitten by the jewelry bug in high school, and I love it as much today as I did then.
Constantly in awe, I am grateful for this engaging and satisfying career filled with memorable experiences: teaching early on, designing custom work, selling, traveling to national craft shows, and owning a well-loved Ojai gallery, HumanArts, with my husband and partner, Stan Katz.
Retiring from the gallery in Summer of 2020, we worked on expanding and renovating my workshop, outfitted 4 benches for students, and jewelry classes have begun, once again - coming full circle.
I continue to have more designs in my head than I can ever produce and I’m having a blast … no plans to slow down!

Learn how with Hallie Katz! In our Beginning Silversmithing classes you’ll be guided every step of the way by Hallie, an experienced jewelry designer, and her excellent assistant and husband, Stan Katz. In 8 hours of personalized instruction during a weekend, learn to saw and file, texture, solder, form and finish your very own earrings, pendant, or ring in sterling silver. Once-a-month weekend workshops are offered in techniques like Stone Setting, Applique and Overlay, Wax Carving and Lost Wax Casting, and Chain Making. Jewelry benches for up to 4 students are outfitted with all the tools you’ll need. No experience needed for most classes. Classes are held in Hallie’s air conditioned studio about 12 minutes from downtown Ojai.
