Sharon Curtis – Jewelry

Sharon Curtis Interview

My love for designing and making jewelry came from years as a production artist at a small university. That experience taught me much about basic design elements and resulted in a strong urge to create more personal and three dimensional art. After a few jewelry making classes, tutorials, etc., I was hooked. I have been learning and practicing new techniques ever since. I am a perfectionist and strive for the highest level of craftsmanship.

My mission statement, focus or goal can be summed up in two words: To Create. This is the heart of Sharon Curtis Designs. Bookkeeping, logistics, selling and profits are all second to the enjoyment of making jewelry. I love seeing something that catches my eye, inspires a design and evolves into a piece of art. Every piece is handcrafted and unique. My design style and materials change as my knowledge, skills and abilities advance. What was once beading with a couple pair of pliers has progressed into metal smithing involving cutting, drilling, sawing, hammering, fusing, soldering, filing, sanding and finishing. It’s an exciting journey: every day there are new and challenging things to learn and practice.

My hobby has allowed me to enjoy the life of an artist without the pressures of depending on it for a living. I design and make what I want based on my inspiration. Sharon Curtis Designs is all about creating jewelry and sharing it with others. Compliments and happy customers make my day. Sharon Curtis Designs is now a return vendor at several fine art shows in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. My home studio is located in Mandalay Beach, California. Many designs incorporate an ocean theme. Enjoy.
